So many of our guests leave Anayat House early in the morning to head to area hospitals and/or clinics and do not return until dinner time or after. The guests stay with their loved one most of the day and has either only eaten snack food or a fast-food. We are hoping that our faithful Anayat House volunteers will help us to “lightened the tremendous load” on our guests by volunteering to provide a warm meal on a day of your choice. So many of our guests are limited on funds and eating out can become very expensive for them. As one guest wrote,
“Anayat House has been a refuge for our family in the five weeks of our medical trauma.
The home-like atmosphere and amenities have lightened the tremendous load we have carried. . . . .
We are so grateful for our stay and for this place of solace.“
How does Meals that Matter work? You just contact us here at Anayat House and we will set your date and let you know how many guests are staying at the house so you know how much food to provide. Anayat House staff will notify the guests that a wonderful meal will be provided for them. You can deliver the meal anytime between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to Anayat House at 1025 N. 14th Street. Since guests are coming and going at different times, we let them know the dinner is available and they can heat it when they are ready for dinner. We do ask that you send your meal in disposals for easy storage of leftovers and clean up.
These meals DO matter and we hope you will help us make a difference and ease the burden they are facing. If you should have any questions, please contact us here at Anayat House at (409)833-0649 or email anayathouse@gmail.com and we are happy to answer any questions you might have regarding volunteer opportunity – Meals that Matter.
